BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Adam Mitangu Fimbo is currently the Director General of the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority (TMDA, formerly TFDA). He holds a PhD in Pharmacovigilance from Karolinska Institutet (Sweden), and Master’s Degrees in Pharmaceutical Services & Medicines Control and in Clinical Trials, as well as a Bachelor of Pharmacy. He manages all matters relating to the regulation of the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines, medical devices, diagnostics, and tobacco products in Tanzania, with over 20 years of experience in medical-product regulation. Under his leadership, TMDA became the first African Authority ranked at WHO Maturity Level 3 (2018) and remains ISO 9001-compliant with an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.
