Prof. Samuel Egieyeh is a highly experienced pharmacist with a Bachelor's and Masterβs degree in Pharmacy, as well as a PhD in Bioinformatics. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in clinical research and drug development from the University of Basel, Switzerland. With 28 years of experience, his expertise spans pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, clinical practice, public health, medicine regulation, and academia. He is a fellow of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB). Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy at the School of Pharmacy at the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town. Additionally, he is the programme coordinator for a postgraduate programme in Regulatory Sciences at the same university. He utilizes data science techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, and Large Language Modelling, for predictive drug development, precision medicine, and AI-supported pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulation. Prof. Egieyeh is also involved in capacity development initiatives and partnerships with the Africa CDC to develop talent for vaccine research, development, and manufacturing in Africa.
