BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Eliangiringa Kaale is a Professor of Medicines Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Tanzania. With more than 23 years of experience, he has worked extensively on strengthening medicines regulatory systems across Africa and beyond, including in Tanzania, Rwanda, Botswana, Zambia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan.
His research focuses on analytical method development, inter-laboratory validation, market surveillance, pharmaceutical regulatory strengthening, and quality assurance of medicines, including antiretroviral formulations. He has contributed to the development of pediatric ARV fixed-dose combinations, generic efavirenz, and innovative tools such as a mobile application for medicine quality assessment in remote settings.
Dr. Kaale chairs Tanzania’s National Technical Committees for Medicines Registration and Pharmaceutical Standards, and he leads the TMDA–MUHAS Regional Centre of Regulatory Excellence designated by AUDA-NEPAD. He also coordinates continental external quality assurance programmes for medicine testing laboratories and serves on global expert panels with the World Health Organization and the United States Pharmacopeia.
An accomplished scholar with over 100 publications, Dr. Kaale is a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2012) and has received international recognition for his contributions to medicines regulation, quality assurance, and capacity development.
