Olúwágbémilékè (Gbemi) Ijeoma Eri is the Founder and President of Austin Bio Consulting and the Director of ABC Regulatory UK Ltd, which are global consultancies based in the greater Washington, DC and London metropolitan areas, respectively. She is also a Co-Director of Austin Bio Global, a faith-based, global health nonprofit organization based in Nairobi, Kenya.
With nearly two decades of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, Dr. Eri is a versatile and strategic leader known for her ability to navigate development pathways for novel products and new modalities. She has held leadership roles in other renowned companies, such as AbbVie, AstraZeneca, and bluebirdbio, where she contributed significantly to the advancement of antiviral, oncology, and advanced (cell and gene) therapies. Dr. Eri has also extended her expertise to the public sector, including collaborations with regional branches of the World Health Organization (WHO), various Ministries of Health / Health Authorities, and regulators during the COVID-19 pandemic response.
She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, an M.S. in Bioscience Regulatory Affairs from the Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Michigan. She is certified in US and Canadian regulatory affairs by the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society and has held faculty roles at the Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Regulatory Science and Regenerative and Stem Cell Technologies within the Center for Biotechnology Education.
Dr. Eri is actively involved in volunteer work, board memberships, and mentoring activities; she is committed to and engaged in facilitating ethical biotechnology innovation as well as access to quality-assured biological products in the Caribbean and Africa.
