BIOGRAPHY

Mekonnen Teferi is a researcher at the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is trained in pharmacology and has broad experience in clinical research and clinical trials on infectious diseases. He has been leading and co-investigating several clinical research projects at different capacities and had opportunities to be part of a few international multi-country clinical trials, such as the STREAM & WHO SOLIDARITY trials. He has been leading a couple of bioequivalence clinical studies and establishing a full-fledged BE centre with clinical and bioanalytical services at AHRI, Ethiopia. Leveraging the overall expertise, training, and research leadership experience, he is contributing to strengthening the clinical research and BE services ecosystem in Ethiopia and beyond. Currently, he is the director for the clinical trials and bioequivalence directorate and the chair of the 'Clinical Trials Network in Ethiopia, which is hosted at AHRI.
