BIOGRAPHY

Angela Essien holds the position of Head of Drug Regulatory Affairs and Quality for Roche Products Limited, the Nigerian Affiliate of F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG. With over 15 years of comprehensive experience in the biopharmaceutical sector, she is an accomplished pharmacist whose expertise spans Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory Compliance, and Pharmacovigilance.
She is a driving force behind enabling timely patient access to Roche's strategic and innovative portfolio in Nigeria, successfully navigating the complex regulatory landscape for therapies in oncology, infectious diseases, and immunology.
She is particularly noted for her instrumental role in strengthening pharmacovigilance systems and advancing robust anti-counterfeit initiatives that are crucial for protecting medicine quality and ensuring patient safety. Her strategy involves extensive collaboration with health authorities and cross-functional partners to promote regulatory transparency, implement digital traceability solutions, and achieve excellence in post-market surveillance.
Beyond her role at Roche, Angela is deeply committed to shaping the Nigerian regulatory environment. She serves as the Assistant Secretary and leads the Regulatory arm of the Executive Committee of NIROPHARM (Nigerian Representative of Overseas Pharmaceuticals Manufacturer), dedicating her expertise to policy advocacy and industry standardization.
Angela holds a B.Pharm degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and a Master's degree from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).
