Vincent Tihon is a seasoned global health expert with over three decades of experience leading and managing health programmes across Africa, including in Guinea-Bissau, Zambia, South Africa, and Rwanda. His professional background spans health systems strengthening, infectious disease control, action research, pharmaceutical regulation, and equitable access to quality health products. Currently with Enabel, the Belgian agency for international cooperation, Dr Tihon contributes to the design and implementation of strategic health programmes that promote fair and sustainable access to essential medicines and health technologies throughout the continent. As Chair of the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonisation (AMRH) / African Medicines Agency (AMA) Partnership Platform, he plays a pivotal role in mobilising and coordinating partners to strengthen regulatory systems, enhance quality assurance for medicines and vaccines, and ensure that public health priorities are fully integrated into broader health reforms in line with local institutional and contextual realities. Vincent Tihon is widely recognised for his strategic leadership and his ability to align international cooperation with national and local priorities, fostering ownership and sustainability of health initiatives. Combining technical expertise with strategic vision, he bridges development cooperation, public health, and pharmaceutical regulation to help build resilient, equitable, and people-centred health systems across Africa. Guided by a deep commitment to equity, quality, and inclusiveness, he believes that lasting progress in health development stems from mutual respect, local engagement, teamwork, and shared responsibility in creating effective and sustainable systems that leave no one behind.
