Chimwemwe Chamdimba serves as the Lead for the African Medicines Regulatory Harmonization (AMRH) Initiative at the African Union Development Agency – NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD). In this capacity, she is responsible for managing the AMRH Programme and providing technical support for the operationalisation of the African Medicines Agency (AMA). She leads critical policy reforms that align regulatory system strengthening with procurement mechanisms, supporting the growth of local manufacturing for medical products and technologies across the continent. A distinguished health policy specialist, Ms. Chamdimba has played a central role in advancing health policy and regulatory reforms, regional harmonisation, and coordination among partners. She has been instrumental in shaping several major continental policy frameworks, including the African Union Model Law on Medical Product Regulation, the Treaty for the Establishment of the African Medicines Agency (AMA), the AU Private Sector Engagement in Health Framework, the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA-2024), and the African Union Health Strategy. Her leadership continues to contribute to the transformation and resilience of Africa’s health regulatory landscape.
