BIOGRAPHY

Head, Drugs and Nutraceuticals Registration Department, Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ghana.

Eric Owusu is a Pharmacist with over 20 years of progressive experience in medicines regulation. He currently serves as the Head of the Drugs and Nutraceuticals Registration Department at the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ghana, where he provides strategic leadership in ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicinal products.

Since 2015, Eric has been a Consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO) Prequalification Programme, serving as an External Assessor for dossier evaluation. He is also a Fellow of the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM), Germany, where he trained as a Clinical Assessor.
At the regional level, Eric is the Vice Chairperson of the Technical Working Group for Registration under the West African Health Organization (WAHO) Harmonization Initiative, contributing to the development and implementation of regional regulatory frameworks and guidelines.

He holds a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Quality by Design from De Montfort University, United Kingdom, and has delivered numerous trainings and technical support missions to regulatory authorities across Africa, strengthening capacity and promoting regulatory convergence.

Eric is also a member of the Implementation Committee of the Network for ML3 National Medicines Agencies in Africa, actively contributing to the development of a reliance framework for ML3 NRAs to enhance collaboration and system efficiency.

With extensive international experience and a strong commitment to regulatory excellence, Eric is passionate about advancing effective and harmonized medicines regulation across Africa to ensure equitable access to quality-assured medical products.
